This beautiful tiny set of 10 Tibetan prayer flags, each measuring 2.7x3.3 inches and in five colors features the image of Windhorse imprinted in black ink.
Windhorse, or "lung ta" in Tibetan, is a traditional concept in Tibetan culture that refers to a person's life force or energy. It is symbolized by a horse carrying a "wish-fulfilling jewel" on its back, which represents the fulfillment of one's wishes and aspirations.
In Tibetan Buddhism, windhorse is also associated with the practice of raising prayer flags. It is believed that when the wind blows through the prayer flags, the blessings and prayers printed on them are carried on the wind and spread to all beings in the surrounding area.
The raising of prayer flags is also believed to generate merit, which can lead to the accumulation of positive karma and spiritual progress. Windhorse is thus an important concept in Tibetan Buddhist practice and culture, as it represents both a person's inner vitality and their potential for spiritual growth and enlightenment.
When people hang prayer flags we are attempting to raise that wind horse energy so positive circumstances rise up over the negative. They help us create not only the causes to uplift all our good natural qualities but to cleanse, uplift and purify our natural environment.
Prayer flags are traditionally hung as expressions of prayer, aspiration and bodhicitta and are associated in Tibetan Buddhist traditions with blessing and purification.
