Benzoin is a balsamic resin that is derived from the bark of trees in the genus Styrax. Benzoin is used in incense manufacture and perfumery. Styrax resin presents with sweet notes of vanilla. This resin can be used on charcoal or in an incense heater. It blends well when compounded with other resins such as myrrh, labdanum, frankincense and rose for example, as well as, other natural aromatics to create ones own incense or oil blends.
