These special Tunba Village Incense Cones come from the village in Lhasa, Tibet called Tunba. This village is the hometown of Thönmi Sambhota, the creator of Tibetan script. It is here he invented incense making and taught individuals in the village how to make it. He diverted water from the nearby river to pound the juniper wood with a wooden pestle and make juniper bricks from the pulp. It is from these bricks that the incense is made. An amazing aspect of this diverted tributary is that so that Thönmi Sambhota wanted no fish to be harmed by the incense making process so he erected a monument at the intersection of the river and tributary and to this day no fish are present!
These cones are made from juniper wood from this process and are an amazing daily offering incense coming from a unique place in Tibet. Please note that the incense come in a variety of different colored packages however all of them are the same variety.
The Incense Stick aims to provide the best Tibetan style incense that is made from only pure herbal ingredients that are compounded from various plant products such as leaves, twigs and resins. These are collected, powdered and turned into sticks and incense powders following an age old traditional Tibetan Buddhist process. Unlike mass produced and artificially fragranced incense, Tibetan style incense produces a complex earthy natural scent. This incense is commonly used as an offering and as an aid to meditation as well as a beautiful aroma to burn anytime.
