This mala is handmade with beautiful stars and moon bodhi seed beads. The mala is made in the traditional Tibetan mala style with 108 beads, spacers at every 27 beads, and a guru bead. The guru bead, main spacers, and tassel beads are made of beautiful Shoushan Jasper (Blue Agalmatolite). It is made with 8mm beads which are a great size for both men and women.
The beads are called bodhi seeds and also lotus seeds however, they are seeds from Calamus jenkinsianus. They are referred to as stars and moon bodhi seeds because the little dots all over them are considered the stars and the little divot is considered the moon. They will darken with use.
With usage, all malas get looser and eventually the strings give out and must be restrung. This mala features adjustable cords at the bottom of the guru bead for when your mala loosens. While this mala will eventually need to be restrung, it can be tightened many times to keep the slack out of the beads.
